Sailing on the Run
2011 - 2012 Boston Harbor Sailing Club
We connected licensed captains with sailboat owners for instruction and recreation. This generated new business for the captains and provided a convenient service for boat owners.
Wounded Veterans Sailing Program
2012 - 2016 Boston Harbor Sailing Club
We operated a free program for wounded veterans who wanted to learn how to sail. This program was so successful, it's still in operation today.
Research & Business Development
2016 - 2018
While serving in the U.S. Army, we completed our market research, developing nearly every aspect of the business on paper. In the latter part of 2017, we hired our technology development team and began raising Series-A funding.

- What do I receive with the purchase of an Individual Membership?
- An Individual Membership includes a single mariner profile and a single vessel profile. If you own a second vessel, an additional vessel profile can be added for a nominal fee.
- What if I own three or more vessels?
- Sounds like you have a small fleet, congratulations on your success! You can purchase a Small Fleet Membership that includes five mariner profiles and five vessel profiles.
- What if I own more than five vessels?
- We have an Enterprise Membership for your outstanding business! With an Enterprise Membership you will have 20 included mariner profiles and 20 included vessel profiles. Additional mariner profiles and vessel profiles can be added at reduced prices.
- Do I have to the own the vessel that I intend on creating a profile for?
- No, as an authorized mariner, you can create a vessel profile on behalf of its owner. However, you will need to know the registration and ownership information for the vessel.
- Will the information I include be available to the public?
- Only to the extent that you allow, that is what makes SKEG great! You get to choose what you want the public to see about your business, vessel, or maritime resume. During our unique verification process, your information will be used to verify your identity and maritime credentials. Beyond the verification process, you are free to use our marketing tools in whichever way you feel most comfortable.
- What if I do not have USCG documentation to support my profile’s licenses?
- Unfortunately, without USCG documentation, there is not a way for our team to validate your maritime background. Thus, your profile will not feature any verification accolades. Please do no fret, we understand that over the years, documentation may become lost, damaged, or stolen. You are more than welcome to share your licenses with the public as we work with you to validate them.
- Should I accept connections from everyone who contacts me?
- Again, you are in control of your profile. You are by no means obligated to accept all connections offered to you. Our staff will likely catch spam profiles long before you notice; however, there is always the chance that you receive a connection request from a mariner profile whom you have not personally met. You are free to either accept, block, or report the profile offering to connect with you.
- How often should I update my profile?
- We will let you know if your profile has unverified information that has not been updated for quite a while. However, once your licenses are verified you are by no means obligated to update daily for example. Another great service offered to you by SKEG is our patented Seatime Tracking software that automatically tracks your seatime and uploads it to your membership profile. If you choose to share your Seatime, simply click “Allow Access” and your personal settings will determine who sees your Seatime.
- If I choose to pay monthly, can I cancel anytime?
- Of course, we will not hold you to a monthly contract if we did not meet your standards and expectations. We only ask that you please tell us how to improve our products and services on the cancellation form.
- Can I incorporate advertising on my site with an Individual Membership?
- Unfortunately, we do not allow for advertising space with our Individual Memberships or Small Fleet Memberships; however, we do offer incorporated advertising space for our Enterprise Membership. Simply contact us to discuss the details.
- Do I have to purchase a license for each individual vessel?
- Yes, reputation is everything in the maritime industry. We at SKEG strive for excellence in our ability to provide reputable marketing to our industry partners. We do so by ensuring that every one of our mariners are who they claim to be; likewise, we ensure each vessel profile is verified.
- Can I make money from referring other mariners?
